
The Purposeful Warrior at City Opera House

We know her as the Michigan Secretary of State (and announced 2026 gubernatorial candidate), but Jocelyn Benson has added another item to her resume with the publication of her new book, The Purposeful Warrior: Standing Up for What’s Right When the Stakes Are High. The book, which is part memoir and part guide to fighting injustice, has gotten several celebrity endorsements, published under journalist Maria Shriver’s imprint Open Field through Penguin Random House and featuring a foreword from actress Amanda Seyfried. Benson will be at the City Opera House at 7pm on June 3 to discuss her book with National Writers Series co-founder and author Doug Stanton.
