Meet Joseph Morrissey
Nov. 20, 2015

Joseph Morrissey came to Interlochen in August, having recently served as Director of Artistic Planning and Touring for The Hong Kong Ballet. He has danced with the Bavarian State Ballet in Munich, the Boston Ballet and the Charleston Ballet Theatre.
Morrissey holds a Master of Arts in Performing Arts Administration from New York University and a Bachelor of Science in Classical Ballet from The Jacob’s School of Music at Indiana University. He is a four-year graduate of The Harid Conservatory in Boca Raton, Florida.
He has choreographed for dancers of the Stuttgart Ballet company, and also for advanced level students at the School of American Ballet. He has also been featured in Italy, the Philippines, and has studied in St. Petersburg, Russia.
SO WHY INTERLOCHEN?
“The students are what motivated me to come. I saw such spark and charm and a willingness to work hard. Of course the energy and view of the place, too. And that beautiful studio on the lake. I mean, I’ve danced all over the world. What other studio has that? It’s like none I’ve ever encountered. And there’s creativity and progress happening in that studio.”
